Hope Eagles 2690 Presentations for 2012
.jpg)
On May 6,2012, Hope Aerie 2690 (in Hope, BC, Canada) was pleased
to present $20,000 back into the community as bursaries and
donations to various local charities, some of whom are
represented in the picture. President Herb Smith has worked hard
to move the membership of our Aerie to over 200 people and is
shown in the picture holding the representative cheque. The
charities also enjoyed and hotdog and hamburger bbq put on by
the Aerie and we were lucky to have a nice, hot day for the
event.

Visitation 2012
The visitation was successful again I didn’t get an actual
count but there over 150 people there. As always Maude and
Charlie did a wonderful job of the meal.
Special thanks to Pattie and Pattie for doing the dishes and
serving dinner. All the volunteers really pitched in ,John
and Anne at the bars Deanna and Desi on Friday.
We could never pull this without lots of help. The ladies
had a crew doing the salad Saturday morning. Everything went
pretty smooth. I was informed we will be hosting the zone
conference again in Feb.
Sunday May 6 is our donation day we will have hambrgr and
hot dogs. We are going to start at 12:00 noon. Hopefully all
the charities can send a rep. The bingo volunteers have done
an awesome job and we will be setting a fine example with
our donations.
The stage and the hall has been worked on and it looks
bigger with the bingo boards covered. We would like to thank
Bob Swain for doing the concrete work the storage room is on
its way.
The old furnace is gone from the little hall and the third
heat pump has been installed. If the bingo players are any
indication everyone will be very pleased with it.
Hope to see you at the AGM on May 15.
Come out and let your voice be heard.

Presidents message
We are at two hundred members (going for three), thanks to
lots of hard work by the volunteers. The work has started on the
storage room and the bingo board covers are almost finished. Don’t
forget nominations for office are coming up this meeting. Also, the
Annual General Meeting is May 15. The Randy Friskie tickets will be
advertised in the next Hope Standard, so you get them soon if you
don’t have them already. Aerie meetings are the first and third
Tuesdays of the month. Please come out and let your voices be heard.

Dear Eagle Members
Thank you so much members from Eagles 2690 for supporting and
co-sponsoring with Lemon Tree Events our second Hope For Kids
Charity Kid's Swap Meet. We didn't rent as many tables as we would
have liked because of the long weekend but it still was a success.
We had many people attend especially when the Easter Bunny came out.
Did anyone see the Easter Bunny attended by Allan Derick wandering
around town to attract people to the hall before hand? Thanks Allan.
Thanks to Herb too for being there to make coffee and show me where
stuff was, thanks to Desi and West for opening up the hall, cleaning
it up and helping me move tables and chairs, to John for making
change and the little bird candies (they were a hit) and various
other Eagle members for helping and for the use of the hall. WE MADE
115.88 FOR OUR CHARITY!! after expenses. Almost double the amount
than last year.

Eagles Zone Conference
From The President
The zone conference was a
great success for local aerie and the host aeries. They are
going to get back to us about having it in Hope again. I
know the local businesses were pleased to have the gang.
Karaoke has been well
attended and seems to generate a different crowd each week.
When we complete the present
round of initiations we will be over the magic number of 200
members.
We still have quite a bit of
work to do on the hall and various items around it.
The roof has to be coated
this year for sure. The cabana needs work and we still need
the storage room. It must be spring that feeling of lets get
things rolling is starting well up inside us all.
This is the time to start
considering nominations for office please step up and run or
put forward someone who you think would be interested.

Eagles Celebrate 114 Years
On Monday, Feb. 6,
The Fraternal Order of Eagles celebrates 114 years of People Helping
People. The F.O.E. began as an agreement between six Seattle theater
owners during a musicians' strike. The owners agreed to set aside
their differences and form The Order of Good Things. As membership
grew, the Bald Eagle was adopted as the Order's official emblem,
serving as a catalyst for the Order's name change to The Fraternal
Order of Eagles.
Thank you to everyone
who has been a part of our first 114 years of excellence and we look
forward to 114 more years of changing lives for the better.

PICTURES AT EAGLE EVENTS
We see people taking
pictures but nobody sends them to us to use on our web site or
newsletter.
It's very easy to do -
just attach them to a
email and send to Eagles
Newsletter E-mail
with your name and event.
In doing so you are helping us promote the Eagles by showing how
much fun we have at these events and it may encourage new members to
attend the next one .
